Bird watching doesn't need to be complicated. One of the best things about birding is that you can start almost anywhere, including your own backyard, neighborhood park, or local trail.

The key is learning to slow down, pay attention, and recognize the small details that separate one bird from another.

Start with the birds around you

Rather than trying to memorize hundreds of species at once, begin by learning a handful of common birds. Once those become familiar, you'll have an easier time noticing new species.
